CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Craniosacral therapy is a profound healing form which assists the body's natural capacity for self-repair. The work can address physical aches and pains, acute and chronic disease, emotional or psychological disturbances, or simply help to develop well-being, health and vitality. It is safe in all age groups from the new-born to the very old, during pregnancy and with those who have severe pain and injury. Throughout life our bodies are subjected to physical and psychological trauma. If the trauma is significant it remains in our bodies as areas of contracted tissue, and this can present over time as physical or psychological symptoms. Craniosacral Therapy (CST) helps to release these deeply held patterns of contraction in our tissues.

CST is a gentle therapy which does not use any manipulation. Therapists use their hands to detect and help release tensions by following subtle movements within the body. During a session you, as the client, remain fully clothed and lying on a treatment table. You may experience internal movements in the tissues e.g. tingling, heat, pulsation etc. You may make physical movements or experience emotional release, or a session may be very quiet and deeply relaxing. Once tensions begin to release there is generally an improved sense of well-being.

In the case of newborn and infant children, very often their systems have been disturbed during delivery and this can be corrected before any problem, such as irritability, feeding problems, colic etc., develops. Such conditions, if they do develop, can be treated by CST.

CST has been successful in treating such conditions as: back and shoulder pain, migraine, stress-related illnesses, digestive problems, chronic pain, tinnitus. It helps in M.E., autism and many other conditions. It can be helpful in any situation as it releases the bodies own inherent healing power.
